William KUYKENDALL b.in Va. He went to Oregon arrived the last day of Oct. 1847. He married Margaret J. HINES 9 Mar 1848 Polk Co., Ore. she was b. 1827 Coles Co., Missouri. He took a donation land claim #5217 in Polk Co., Ore. They had two children, but Wm H. age 4 b.Ore. was the only living child by 1853.
Margaret m/2 Avery BABCOCK 15 May 1853 Polk Co.,Ore. In 1860 Polk Co.census: Avery BABCOCK age 41 b. New York " Lawyer" Margaret J. (wife) 32 b. Mo; W. H. KUYKENDALL 10 b. Ore; E. F. HINES 15 b. Mo (female); E. R. DODSON 11 b. Ore (female); M. BROCK 50 b. Ky "Laborer"; John KELLY 27 b. Ireland.
22 Apr 1879 Avery BABCOCK and Margaret his wife, J. T. LADY & Leonora R. LADY, his wife, formerly Leonora BABCOCK, in Polk Co. gave a quit claim to W. H. KUYKENDALL, Jr. 22 Apr. 1880 W. H. KUYKENDALL gave an affidavit " He is the only surviving heir of Wm KUYKENDALL & Margaret his wife, both deceased." In 1875 the above land claim was within the limits of the Grand Round Indian Reservation. This land claim in 1850 was witnessed by Nathan HUSSEY, George THORP, LAMSON, Levi BURDEN, George BROWN, Job BURDEN to the fact that William KUYKENDALL had settled on claim.
There are also KUYKENDALL's from Virgo County, Ind. in Oregon. If I can be of further help with them just let me know.

Elizabeth Garetson FULKERSON..............6 Mar 1806-24 Oct. 1854, b. in Lee Co., VA, m. William Tolbert HINES on 25 Apr 1824, Cole Co., MO. He died of spotted fever at Emigrant Crossing (Idaho) on the Oregon Trail on 7 Aug 1847. His family knocked together a rude coffin, and took the body with them to Pike, Yamhill County, OR (named after Pike, Missouri). She remarried to Elijah DODSON in Oregon and had 1 daughter, Leona Ruth DODSON (27 Jun 1849-20 Feb 1856). On her death in 1854 she was buried next to her first husband William under a single

marker in Pike Cemetery, Yamhill, OR. [Most of her children
and their husbands were also buried in that cemetery.] Her 9
children with William HINES were:

Dec 1780-16 Nov 1852, b. Scott Co., VA, m. (1st) Susanna H.
LIVINGSTON, with whom he had ten children (listed below). They
moved to Boone Co., MO about 1823. Widowed, Richard remarried
(2nd) to Mary ("Polly") GRANT on 28 Dec 1828 in Boone
Co., MO. She died 18 Nov 1829, leaving one child, John Richard
Avis Fulkerson (21 Oct 1829-18 Aug 1893). Richard then
married (3rd) Mary LAUGHLIN on 20 Nov 1831 in Boone Co., MO
(marriages to Grant & Laughlin at pp. 50 & 83, Boone
County Marriages). She died 13 Nov 1844. He lastly married (4th)
Mary LINDSAY on 11 Jul 1849 in Boone Co., MO.

| John Richard Avis FULKERSON |
b. in MO, lived in Johnson and Boone counties, served in the Civil War as a lieutenant in Co. G, 45th Missouri Infantry. By the end of the war he was a captain, commanding part of the Union force then occupying Johnson County, as reported in the following dispatch:
April 10, 1865, Tri-Monthly report of troops stationed at Warrensburg, Mo. commanded by Capt. R.B.Newman. by J.H. Hill, Post Adjutant.
CAPT. J.R. FULKERSON, 45th Mo.Vol.Inf., 120 present, 62 on special duty, 7 sick, 2 under arrest - absent 12 on detached service, 3 on leave, 23 sick, 2 absent without authority,
Remarks: 2 died of disease from Co. C & D."
John m. Nancy SAPPINGTON on 1 Apr 1851 and had eleven children. He died at Conway Springs, Sumner Co., KS
